| Re: World Cup 2010 Official Thread Yeah that Miraculous goal always pissed me off.
Flip I disagree with you, adding some updated technology will help Ensure the proper result. Considering people actually take these games seriously enough to riot or kill other people I think we need to move forward. So does FIFA, they just are afraid to make the necessary moves.
There will always be a Human Element involved, but for goal scoring let's start there and make sure Obvious things are taken care of. As for the diving and theatrics, well I for one would love to see the players and coaches penalized for that, it does nothing for the game and only diminishes the entire World Cup. Has anyone forgotten that pathetic flopping by Rivaldo a few years ago? I haven't, he should have been suspended for the rest of the tournament, do that a few times and Character will be returned to the game. |

| Re: World Cup 2010 Official Thread I had to look for a couple of seconds before it dawned on me Sox...
I do hope that England gets a good result this time, my biggest concern is Strikers, they just seem to have trouble scoring that Big goal when they need it most.
Hopefully Rooney has a few of those Special Mars Bars in his kit. |

| Re: World Cup 2010 Official Thread What gets to me is that in soccer the players exaggerate injuries in the hopes of drawing a penalty against the opposing side while in hockey and Canadian football the players do their utmost not to let the other side know they've managed to hurt or shake them up.
I'm a fan of Argentina and Uruguay and a hated enemy of Brazil.

| Re: World Cup 2010 Official Thread Old school Football was the same Fox, nowadays the Coaches teach their squads how to feign injury, more like Gamesmanship than sport when you do that. Sox and I have talked about this before, I played Footy with the same mentality as hockey and our football, I never fall down or fake anything. |

Are you one of the English lager louts - or do you support the real ale movement? |

| Re: World Cup 2010 Official Thread I hope not but I feel Rooney will be a target for the crafty however his temper has eased thanks to Sir Alex I think. Yeah we don't have a second world class frontman but we have a couple of individuals who can shine given the break, and one tall gent that knows where the back of the net is. It's certain defenders that worry me they have a habbit of switching off.

We are the same Sox, when the lads were gathered for our Hockey playoffs in the 80's the neighbours could tell when we scored a goal, they used to rush in and see what happened...
Would be fun to catch a Reds game before I am done, in proper company of course. |
