| Wimbledon- The 10 Hour Match Did anybody catch any of the match between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut? I usually don't watch tennis but I flipped over when it was 17-17 in the fifth set. They finally suspended it for darkness tied at 59.The fifth set alone is over 7 hours. The previous record for an entire match was around 6 and a half hours so their one set has passed that. The entire match is at 10 hours.
They continue tomorrow at 9:30 AM EST. |

| Re: Wimbledon- The 10 Hour Match It is an anomaly, and interesting but this falls into the "Too much of a good thing" for me. They should be able to break their opponents serve once in a while, this match while statistically phenomenal, and record breaking does not have the grandeur of Borg vs McEnroe or even Roddick vs Federer.
I would not be able to watch that much tennis in one sitting anyway.
Academic no matter what as Feldy said they are dead on their feet for the next match no matter who wins. |

| Re: Wimbledon- The 10 Hour Match 10 hours? That's only roughly 2 hours longer than an ODI!

| Re: Wimbledon- The 10 Hour Match One-Day International. It's a type of cricket game.
The difference with these is that the cricketers get a break for tea and scones halfway through :p |

| Re: Wimbledon- The 10 Hour Match I thought it had something to do with Cricket, if Sal had the word Test somewhere I would have guessed.
Hmm...tea and scones, sounds more like an activity than a sport then...
Runs and hides before Sal gets his bat and whacks me for six. |

| Re: Wimbledon- The 10 Hour Match Haha, you should watch some of the videos I posted, it's far from leisurely at the international level, despite the tea break
The league I play in though is a bit more laid back though, there's stories of a past player who fielded with a beer and a smoke in his hands

| Re: Wimbledon- The 10 Hour Match A brilliant performance from both players, what a shame somebody had to lose! We'll never see an epic like that again! They thoroughly desserved the standing ovation and I thought it was nice that they were given commemorative awards, and I wonder what was in their gift box Isner has to play doubles later, I'm sure he's really up for that |

That was a nice gesture indeed. Looks like Wimbledon is ripe for the picking this year, the top seeds have all be pushed to the limits early.
You can keep us updated Tracey, I used to be a big tennis fan and promise to check whenever you post about what's happening. |
