Over the last couple of years, the Mets have had historical collapses, so I'm just enjoying the right now. This team looks like they have a lot of fight in them. I'm excited. |

I think R.A. Dickey has been pitching great. I have what is probably his first baseball card from either college or the US Olympics (he was on the 96 squad). So I've literally followed his entire career from Texas all the way to NY. |

| Re: 2010 Major League Baseball Thread Ah...The Mets, Mets, Mets....are fading in the summer heat...
It's not over....but, they can't sink any lower.
It's going to be a tough fight...
Mets are in third place and next week, they're playing the 1st place Atlanta Braves and right after that, the second place Philadelphia Phillies...
If we get hot again, we can turn this thing around...
Let's do this!!

| Re: 2010 Major League Baseball Thread Minnesota is jinxed, they get totally psyched out whenever they play NY for some reason. Oh well, it's up to Texas or Tampa to see what they can do with the Yankees.
I personally feel the way Baseball is run is the Worst example of any pro sport we have, spend billions and just buy a winner, at the expense of competitive balance in the rest of the league. As bad as some people feel the salary cap era has affected teams in the NFL at least in that league any team that is well run can contend and win a title. The English Premiership League is another terrible example of a lopsided league, maybe four teams can actually win the title every year and the rest are just cannon-fodder. |

| Re: 2010 Major League Baseball Thread I'd like to see a salary cap for MLB as well. Especially for our Blue Jays in the A.L. east competing against the Yanks and the Bo Sox and thier huge money.
I don't like seeing the same teams year after year in the playoffs in any league. I tend to pull for the underdog from the smaller markets.
S.F. and the Phils in the N.L. championship. I'm taking the Phils in six. I'm hoping for them also because of "Doc", other wise I'd be pulling for the Giants.

| Re: 2010 Major League Baseball Thread Ron Gardenhire proves yet again how he is the George Karl of baseball. This guy couldn't win anything that counts if his life depended upon it. Shitty managing at the end of the year (those last 2 weeks) coupled with a complete lack of ability to win in the postseason... Again!
I didn't like this guy 10 yrs ago, I still don't like him. He was a terrible 3rd base coach and he's not much better as a skipper.
It's so hard to be a MN sports fan. Seriously. Twins, Vikings, Wolves, Gophers.... /sigh |
