| Serious Discussions and Debate forum! I decided to let the masses make a decision for the forum. Here is the Question.......
Should the Serious Discussion and Debate forum (SDF) be the only forum that has no rules, and everything/anything goes?
I have set a couple limitations here, NOTHING ILLEGAL, PORNOGRAPHIC, or THREATENING.
The language filter will remain in place, and I trust that everyone will conduct themselves like adults and "police" their own responses and behavior.
No one will receive any warnings or infractions from this forum if we go to the anything/everything goes format unless the illegal/pornographic/threatening limitation is violated.
IF the masses decides the SDF forum should be with no rules, the staff will keep one option open, and that is to restrict individuals from this forum if they become too much of a problem. |

| Re: Serious Discussions and Debate forum! I agree with the idea. On a different board we go to, membership was dwindling so they made a seperate forum with no rules... and now it's the only one anyone goes to. Nothing bad goes down, it's basically the same.

It is one thing to remark about an idea or topic but it is another to make personal remarks about other forum members.
I don't like other forums being brought up either .. Each forum is unique. |

I agree with Flower about continuing to prohibit personal attacks.

But surely some sort of frame of reference is required for us to make an educated decision? I ain't sayin' whatever works anywhere will work here, but to ignore similar cases at other forums seems misguided.

Btw ~ Other forums don't allow non-members to read ANY posts ... Should we all join other forums for frames of reference??? You are making an assumption that everyone here also belongs to another forum where you post, I for one, do not. |

I didn't say anybody posts on other forums, other than myself. You completely misread everything I wrote. No matter how 'unique' CRF is, we don't exist in a vacuum. There are any number of examples we could look to in order to intelligently assess what the outcome may be from instituting changes to CRF's policies. Perhaps you consider such efforts to be in vain, but personally I don't see why you would promote a moratorium on even so much as bringing it up.

Btw ~ I am unaware that I was "promoting a moratorium" ...
For the record .. I am against bringing up the policies of one forum on another forum .. You don't have to agree but I am entitled to state my opinion which is worth as much as Lynch's opinion ... |
