Recently we had a request for a cover band/ tribute band forum. I thought I would get some recommended tribute bands and cover bands in a single thread, then we can go from there to get enough band threads together for a sub-forum
Love to contribute but I don't go to concerts or bars anymore so chances are if there are Cover bands playing here, well the big city down the road I wouldn't know them anyway.
I saw this Journey tribute band Frontiers a few years ago.Jeremy Hunsicker was considered as lead singer but they went with Arnel Pineda instead.Hunsicker did co-wrote Never Walk Away off the Revelation cd
One of my favorite tribute bands of all time are the Atomic Punks
Check out their rendition of "Mean Streets" off of Fair Warning (1981)
Right now, these guys are touring in San Diego!
A lot of the same guys also perform in Moving Pictures which is an EXCELLENT Rush tribute band.
Watching them play was a lot of fun for me because these two groups were the single most influential in getting me back into the guitar, and learning techniques in 1998.
I was very sad to miss these guys' performance in Anaheim on January 2nd. Hopefully they will be playing again soon.

I went to see a Pink Floyd cover band recently and they were very good!!! They are from Adelaide I think. They call themselves the Australian Pink Floyd.
I've heard that Musical Box and Garden Wall are the most popular of Genesis tributes, but there's so many out there!
Also, Adelaide's The Zep Boys are a good LZ tribute.
I saw Musical Box perform about 15 years ago, and they were incredible. They sounded like Gabriel-era Genesis, they looked like them, they even had the same type instruments and amps that Genesis used to use. The singer did all the crazy elaborate costume changes that Gabriel was famous for. I don't think that Musical Box could have been any better.
There is another LZ tribute band that is a lot of fun - an all girl band named Lez Zeppelin. They don't sound that much like LZ, but they sound good and their shows are fun.
The Australian Pink Floyd are amazing. I've seen them on tv and was quite impressed with them. Great attention to detail in their performances/arrangements.
Saw an interesting item on ebay yesterday - "Their Hispanic Majesties Request"...a cd anthology of Hispanic bands doing Stones covers. I might have to order that one!
If you happen to live in the Adelaide area *watches everyone walk away* and are looking for a cheap night out to watch some live music, there's a very good George Harrison tribute show doing the rounds, and also a very good Roy Orbison one. I've been to both, and they were fantastic.
I can't remember what either of them are called, but remind me at some time other than 3 in the morning and I may be able to find out
