My parents are big Rory Gallagher fans so I have been listening to his music forever. My favourite songs are, Bad Penny (live version), Shinkicker, Going To My Hometown, Too Much Alcohol and Walk On Hot Coals.
What can I say... one of my all time favourites. I have heaps of his stuff and am as blown away now as when I first heard him. They say "horses for courses" this is one I would back every time. Much missed. His shows went on for hours but were so good it seemed like 10 mins and I only payed about £5 for the privilege.
Favorite Rory Gallagher albums, in no particular order:
Walk On Hot Coals
A Million Miles Away

i really like Rory, he's a great, emotional player and musician. im mostly a fan of his live stuff, that's when he really came together and the recordings were able to catch him at his best. his studio recordings just seem hollow compared to his live material, imo
No special effects, no dazzling lights and lasers just gritty hard edged blues rock, I concider myself very lucky to have seen this gentleman. I watched in awe as he steamed through each set and on both occasions I didnt leave the club till 2am. I still can't believe how very humble he comes across in the old interviews he was and is an inspiration. Long live the memory of Rory.
